MIT researchers developed a new self-assembling battery material made from aramid amphiphiles. When exposed to water, it forms mechanically stable nanoribbons but in organic solvents it dissolves, causing the battery to fall apart at end of battery life for easy recycling. This enables recycling without harsh chemicals or high temperatures, paving way for sustainable electric vehicle batteries.
