BJP clarified that Mithun Chakraborty's purse was misplaced, not stolen, during his campaign in Jharkhand's Nirsa for BJP candidate Aparna Sengupta. BJP Dhanbad district president Ghanshyam Grover stated, "There was no such incident of pickpocketing. The purse was misplaced and later found." A video had gone viral in which the organisers were heard requesting the pickpocket to return the wallet.
