Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has urged the withdrawal of recent amendments to Forest (Conservation) Act and Forest Conservation Rules (2022), saying the Modi government has "nearly signed a death warrant" for the Aravalli hills. In the last rule, the government says the Aravalli hills under 100 metres are exempt from mining restrictions, effectively allowing mining in most of the range.
