More men than women died by suicide over marriage-related issues in India in 2022-23, News18 reported, citing analysis of NCRB data. This is the opposite of what was happening in India before 2022, when women accounted for the majority of marriage-related suicides in India. In 2023, 4,863 men died by suicide due to marriage-related issues as compared to 4,180 women.
