UP Minister Sanjay Nishad visited the flood-affected areas in Kanpur Dehat district. After flood victims complained of losing their homes, Nishad said, "Mother Ganga comes to wash the feet of her sons…the sons will go to heaven merely by its 'darshan'." The victims later said the minister didn't know that the flood-affected villages were situated near Yamuna river, not Ganga.
