Senior Mumbai Police inspector Daya Nayak, also known as "encounter specialist", was promoted to the rank of ACP, an official said. Nayak, who joined Mumbai Police in 1995, rose to fame in the 90s as one of the officers who gunned down several gangsters in encounters. Senior inspectors Jivan Kharat, Deepak Dalvi and Pandurang Pawar were also promoted as ACP.
