Mumbai's civic hospitals are reeling under a shortage of anti-rabies vaccine (ARV), forcing dog-and cat-bite patients to rush to tertiary centres or costly private clinics. Many suburban hospitals, including Kurla's Bhabha and Santacruz's V N Desai, have run out of stock after BMC failed timely procurement. Experts warn delays could prove fatal as rabies exposure cases rise.
