BJP leader Amit Malviya said that the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government is "reportedly" entrusting Muslims to prepare and distribute sweets labelled as "sacred prasad" of Lord Jagannath in Murshidabad district. "Mamata is trampling on Hindu sentiments with impunity in the state," he stated. Malviya added, "This is a deliberate provocation...This is not secularism but targeted sacrilege."
