The Gujarat HC said Muslim couplez can dissolve their 'nikah' (marriage) through mutual verbal consent or 'mubarat', without drawing up a written agreement. HC set aside a family court order that rejected a joint plea by the husband and wife, treating it as not maintainable. It added that registration of nikah ('nikahnama') isn't an essential part of the marriage solemnisation.
