After inaugurating Phase 1 of newly constructed Navi Mumbai International Airport, PM Narendra Modi said, "In 2014...it was my dream that even people wearing hawai chappals (slippers) should be able to travel by air." He added that to fulfil this, it was important to set up new airports. "In 2014...India had 74 airports; now we've over 160," PM said.
