Myanmar’s military junta lifted the state of emergency imposed in the country since the 2021 coup and announced that elections would be held in December. The junta announced the formation of an 11-member election commission led by military chief and de facto ruler Min Aung Hlaing. Opposition parties, including lawmakers ousted in the 2021 coup, said they'll boycott the elections.
