NASA and AeroVironment have proposed the Skyfall to deploy 6 autonomous helicopters on Mars to explore potential landing sites for its first crewed mission. Using a 'Skyfall Maneuver', the helicopters would separate from their entry capsule during descent and land without a traditional platform. These rotorcraft will send HD images and radar data to identify resources for human exploration.
