NASA will launch a suborbital sounding rocket from New Mexico on July 18 to study Sun's chromosphere, the reddish layer between its atmosphere and photosphere where flares and plasma jets originate. The 10-minute mission will carry Solar EruptioN Integral Field Spectrograph (SNIFS) to the sun. It'll capture real-time high-resolution spectroscopic data from chromosphere and its transition region.
