The NATO leaders agreed to hike spending towards defence to 5% of their countries' GDP on an annual basis by 2035. They issued a joint statement at the NATO summit being held at The Hague. The leaders of the alliance also underlined their "ironclad commitment" to NATO's collective security guarantee, that it would come to each other's aid if attacked.
