NCLAT set aside competition regulator CCI's direction barring Meta and WhatsApp from sharing user data with other Meta group entities for advertising purposes for five years. However, it clarified that CCI will have the authority to examine data-related conduct of companies if such practices are found to be anti-competitive. NCLAT also upheld the ₹213-crore penalty imposed by CCI on Meta.
