The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo moto cognisance of the alleged gang rape of law student in Kolkata. NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar has written to Kolkata Police Commissioner expressing deep concern and directing immediate, time-bound investigation under relevant provisions of BNS. The Commission has also sought a detailed action-taken report within three days.
