Vidya Balan spoke about Bollywood deviating from emotional resonance, and said, "There's a need for reinvention in terms of the way we're writing scripts. I think we've lost the essence of what is truly a Hindi film." She added, "People say 'We need mass entertainers, where are masses?'." Vidya pointed out how films are being made for "universal" appeal.
