North East Students' Organization (NESO) staged sit-in strikes across all state capitals of the North Eastern region, urging India and state governments to act against illegal immigration from Bangladesh. Chairman Samuel B Jyrwa said the issue has altered regional demography. NESO also demanded Inner Line Permit (ILP) implementation in Meghalaya.
