A new genus and species of freshwater crab, Patithelphusa yercaudensis, was discovered in India's Eastern Ghats. Researchers from ZSI and Korea identified it in Yercaud, Tamil Nadu. Using both morphological and DNA analysis, they confirmed it as a new lineage. The genus is named after Indian taxonomist Sameer Kumar Pati.
