Union Home Minister Amit Shah has described the new GST framework, which kicked in from September 22, as a "trust-based tax system". He said that the "simplified" two-slab structure of 5% and 18% would usher a "new era of mutual trust" between the people and PM Narendra Modi-led government. "It's time GST gives relief to the public," Shah added.
