Genetic material shed by tumours can be detected in the bloodstream three years before cancer diagnosis, according to a study led by investigators at Johns Hopkins University. The study, published in the journal Cancer Discovery, said a multicancer early detection, or MCED, laboratory test was used to evaluate plasma samples to investigate risk factors for cardiovascular diseases.
