After winning New York City's mayoral post, Zohran Mamdani said, "New York will remain a city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and as of tonight a city led by an immigrant." Mamdani is the son of Indian-American filmmaker Mira Nair and India-origin Ugandan scholar Mahmood Mamdani. The 34-year-old becomes youngest mayor in New York's history.
