NHRC (National Human Rights Commission) has issued a notice to West Bengal DGP directing him to ensure the safety of Sharmishta Panoli, who has been arrested for alleged defamatory remarks against Islam. The commission also asked the DGP to submit a report and sought his response on the procedures of her arrest. She is under judicial custody till June 13.
