A deadly landslide struck Dara Gaon near Soureni, Mirik between 2 and 3 am, killing four people asleep inside a house. They had gone to Dara Gaon from Salbari near Siliguri to celebrate the Gorkha festival Dasai (Dusshera). Rescue efforts are underway in Sukhia Pokhari and nearby areas as the death toll continues to rise amid difficult conditions.
