NIT Rourkela researchers have developed a new bacterial biofilm that degrades 95% of phenanthrene, a harmful pollutant in industrial oil spills, within five days. "It can be especially useful in mitigating the impact of industrial oil spills and is well-suited for areas with high industrial activity and limited pollution control,” the college's research graduate said.
