External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar called for a sweeping overhaul of global biosecurity frameworks under Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), highlighting the threat of biological weapons. "Misuse [of bio-weapons] is no longer a distant possibility," he said. "BWC has...no permanent technical body and no mechanism to track new scientific developments. These gaps must be bridged," he said.
