The panchayat of Katorewala village in Muktsar district, Punjab, has passed a unanimous resolution banning the sale of tobacco and its byproducts, energy drinks and the use of drugs in their area. It has declared that violators would face a fine of ₹11,000, out of which the informer would get ₹6,000 and the village gurdwara ₹5,000.
