Ladakh administration said arrest of activist Sonam Wangchuk was based on credible inputs and called allegations of victimisation of Wangchuk "baseless". The administration stated there is "no question of witch-hunting or smoke screen" and urged that investigations should be allowed to proceed impartially. Notably, Wangchuk's wife Gitanjali had spoken about "witch-hunt" after Wangchuk's arrest.
