Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday called for removal of the word "secularism" from Constitution, saying it is not the "core of our culture". He added, "The basic sentiment of India is equality of all religions…The word secularism was added during the Emergency." Chouhan's remark came after RSS' Dattatreya Hosabale's call for reviewing words 'socialist' and 'secular' from Constitution.
