A nurse named Shivakumar Shettigar was awarded ₹13.49-lakh compensation by a consumer forum after getting a false positive result for Hepatitis C in Mangaluru. Shettigar underwent the test before travelling to Saudi Arabia to join his new job, from which he was fired following the test result. He alleged negligence and use of faulty test kits by the diagnostic centre.
