Nvidia-backed startup Mistral AI has raised $2 billion in its latest funding round, which was led by Dutch tech giant ASML. This gives Mistral a post-money valuation of nearly $14 billion, which is more than double the $6.8-billion it achieved during a funding round last year. Its focus on open-source models contrasts with approaches of rivals like OpenAI and Google.
