Onion farmers in Maharashtra have urged the state government to shift procurement from Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) to Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMCs), reports stated. Farmer groups alleged that APMCs offer greater market transparency and fair prices, unlike FPO-led procurement by central agencies. They also urged the Centre to revise onion procurement guidelines.
