The Ministry of Home Affairs said on Wednesday that the number of districts most affected by Naxalism has been reduced to three- Bijapur, Sukma, and Narayanpur- in Chhattisgarh. The ministry called it a "giant stride" toward the goal of a Naxal-free India, following surrender of 88 CPI (Maoist) members in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. Government aims to eradicate Naxalism by 2026.
