Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced Israel is open to establishing formal diplomatic relations with Syria and Lebanon, both longstanding foes, but wouldn't negotiate on status of Golan Heights. He emphasised that normalising ties aligns with regional security interests. Israel annexed the Golan Heights in 1981 after capturing most of the area from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day War.
