The year the First War of Independence, or the Indian Rebellion of 1857, started, Gujjar village, near Ludhiana, got a primary school. Today, nobody remembers the story behind its opening, except a haphazard collection of some events. Successive governments haven't honoured the school's history and many parts of the building have been declared unsafe and require urgent renovation.
