Only 10 of the 43 companies licensed since 2001 are producing bulletproof jackets (BPJs), body armour, and protectors, the Defence Ministry told Parliament. The ministry also urged the remaining 33 firms to begin manufacturing to meet the high demand for protective gear from the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, and other state law enforcement agencies.
