The Ministry of Rural Development has informed the parliament that over ₹14,600 crore in dues owed to states under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme are still pending, sparking concerns over fund disbursement and wage delays for rural workers. The five southern states alone collectively account for ₹5,020.16 crore of the total dues.
