More than 2,000 people were rushed to safety from the hotels and beaches as wildfires swept through parts of southern Spain. A man also succumbed to his burns. "In barely 40 minutes, the fire advanced six kilometres," Carlos Novillo, Madrid's regional environment chief, said. The regional officials, however, said the blaze had been contained by Tuesday morning.
