Over 29,000 electric vehicle charging stations are installed in country, including 4,557 on national highways, state highways and expressways, as per Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. "Setting up of EV charging stations is an unlicensed activity and private entities are free to participate," officials said. "The government’s role is to facilitate and incentivise expansion," they added.
