The Maharashtra government acknowledged on Thursday that around 8,213 villages in the state lack schools, including 6,563 without upper primary schools. Additionally, 5,373 schools do not have electricity, and 3,335 lack separate toilets for girls. Despite a Bombay High Court directive to install CCTV cameras in over 1.05 lakh schools, only about 50,000 have complied, the government revealed.
