Over 9,000 people drown annually in West Bengal, as per survey by NGO Child in Need Institute and The George Institute for Global Health. Over 25 deaths are reported daily- half of them children, survey added. It also found that children aged one to nine were most vulnerable, with mortality rate of 121/lakh- among the highest ever recorded globally.
