Earth's ozone layer is recovering, with the 2024 Antarctic ozone hole smaller than in recent years, the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) stated. Citing the Vienna Convention's Montreal Protocol, which phased out over 99% of ozone-depleting substances, the report stated ozone layer is projected to return to 1980s levels by mid-century. This will reduce skin cancer risks and ecosystem damage.
