Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif has said Pakistan's nuclear programme is intended strictly for "peaceful purposes and self-defence". This is in contrast to previous remarks of Pakistani officials and leaders, who openly threatened to launch nuclear attack on India during conflict. Two months ago, a Pakistani diplomat warned of using "full spectrum of power, both conventional and nuclear" against India.
