The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved $800 million in aid to Pakistan to strengthen fiscal sustainability and improve public financial management, despite India's objections. India reportedly highlighted Pakistan's deteriorating fiscal performance and spending on defence rather than development. India also said Pakistan's reliance on such aid could create a dangerous dependency cycle.
