Refaat Alareer, a Palestinian poet known for writing in English, has been killed in an Israeli strike. He refused to leave northern Gaza after Israel began its ground offensive in October. Alareer, a professor at the Islamic University of Gaza, also co-founded the 'We Are Not Numbers' project, connecting Gaza authors with mentors abroad to share their experiences in English.
