Parliament has passed five key legislations aimed at modernising India's shipping and port ecosystem. These have replaced archaic colonial-era laws and aligned the sector with global standards. These include the Bills of Lading Bill, 2025, the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2025, the Coastal Shipping Bill, 2025, the Merchant Shipping Bill, 2025, & Indian Ports Bill, 2025.
