Following activist Sonam Wangchuk's arrest amid the Ladakh protests, Congress' Mallikarjun Kharge accused the central government of "persistently betraying the people of Ladakh." "The Congress condemns pathetic handling of situation in Ladakh by the government," he added. "The BJP had pledged Sixth Schedule status for the region and sadly that promise has been squarely abandoned," Kharge said.
