People were paid as little as ₹150/day to act as fake patients by lying in hospital beds during official inspections at Raipur's Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Medical College (SRIMSR). People were registered under fake names to show inflated OPD and IPD numbers to inspection teams to obtain recognition from the Medical Council. CBI had arrested six people in the case.
