The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has directed that physiotherapists shouldn't use the prefix 'Dr', stating that they aren't medical doctors. In a letter to IMA, DGHS chief Dr Sunita Sharma said the use of the title would be in violation of the Indian Medical Degrees Act, 1916. Misuse of the 'Dr' prefix could mislead patients, the letter read.
