Scientists in Switzerland have developed a new 'living' material, containing blue-green algae (cyanobacteria), that can absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air through photosynthesis. Under certain conditions, it can also convert CO2 into solid carbonate minerals, like limestone, as per the study. The researchers believe the material can be used in buildings to fight climate change.
